about

In this track I am proud to have a great young talent feature with some fine piano solos in the end section of the tune: William Paasche.
William is a multitalented musician and composer, a virtuoso on all instruments containing a keyboard. I have followed William since he started to post here on SoundCloud and he deserves a great following. So do check his work!

About this track:
This track came from an idea I had to envoke some moods from flamenco music’s roots as well as new roads in modern flamenco. Part of this track is set in Moorish, North African culture, mainly by using a certain percussion, pace and rhythm reminiscent of Arabic music. These are featuring in the slow sections that also leave space for this percussion. They are interrupted with faster sections that are more flamenco nuevo and latin flavored, featuring the solos of both guitar and piano. So really it is swinging in mood to reveal both historical and contemporary influences of flamenco nuevo, and obviously my musical references. Paco de Lucia paved the way to really open up flamenco to all possible different musical ideas and approaches. For me being a Dutchman, a northern European, that has been a great invitation to use the strengths of flamenco guitar in a fusion of different musical styles. That is what I have always loved about Paco’s work and his friend Al Di Meola, who himself uses a lot of Moroccan and oriental percussion in combination with Jazz, Latin and Flamenco. This track is a Desert Caravan of flamenco fusion styles.

Architect/partner by profession I find myself playing guitar and writing these tracks in afterhours, at nights, evenings, when in need of a dose of guitar sounds.

I have been playing guitar since I was 11 years old, largely self-taught and have tried different styles and instruments, Renaissance lute, Flamenco, Classical guitar and fusion.
